What is Hand and Wrist Pain?
What causes Hand and Wrist pain?
- Overuse Injuries: Repetitive movements, such as typing or playing a musical instrument, can lead to overuse injuries like tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Arthritis: Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis can cause pain and swelling in the hand and wrist.
- Fractures: Falls, sports injuries, and other traumatic events can cause fractures in the bones of the hand and wrist.
- Sprains and Strains: Ligaments and tendons in the hand and wrist can become strained or sprained from overuse or injury.
- Nerve Damage: Hand and wrist pain can also result from nerve damage caused by conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Ganglion Cysts: Ganglion cysts are noncancerous growths that can develop on the tendons or joints in the hand and wrist and cause pain.
- De Quervain's Tenosynovitis: This condition involves inflammation of the tendons that run along the thumb side of the wrist and can cause pain when gripping or lifting objects.
